The heart of a central California living

Shea Trilogy had a vision of creating a jewel of a clubhouse that would serve as a catalyst for residential development in the heart of their resort lifestyle community in Nipomo, California. Set in the path of the monarch butterfly migration, the developer chose to preserve their habitat by protecting an old growth eucalyptus grove where the butterflies congregate annually. We used materials, structure, and landscape architecture to reflect various aspects of the monarch butterfly by subtly repeating roof lines pitched at an angle similar to butterfly wings, using floor coverings mimicking wing color and pattern, and designing a patio where the pattern continued in mosaic form. The clubhouse contains a grand living room, a banquet facility, private dining and meeting spaces, fitness rooms, a pool, tennis courts, a library, an art studio, and a full-service spa.
