After over 80 years of hosting a wide range of community events, the Placer County Fairgrounds was due for a facelift and facility upgrade. Working closely with the new facility operators, the County, and surrounding neighborhoods, we designed a specific plan for the 60+ acre site. This phased plan included a new boulevard intersection, major renovations of existing buildings including interior and exterior upgrades, public gathering spaces, frontage improvements along the main thoroughfare, a new marquee sign, repaving and lighting of the parking lot, landscape cleanup, way-finding signage and a brand new 160,000 square foot event center. The grounds and plazas were organized in a manner that they can function together for large events or be used for various smaller gatherings simultaneously.
