A gallery filled with light and stillness

Located on the bottom floor of a City parking garage in Old Town Roseville, we turned a dark and noisy space into a gallery filled with light and stillness for viewing artwork from regional and national artists. Designing an art gallery beneath a parking garage meant giving special consideration to its acoustics, lighting, height, and safety for moving artwork into and out of the space. We accomplished this by using acoustical treatment on the ceiling, which dampened surrounding car noise, special lighting that fit the constraints of the space while providing the appropriate illumination, and soft colors on the walls and floor to accentuate and highlight the artwork. The space was also designed to be used for small musical performances, lectures, parties and demonstrations.
