Dignity Health Medical Foundation’s 6,700 SF building in Watsonville, CA was a full renovation and adaptation for use as a new medical clinic. Williams + Paddon did a full interior demolition and tenant improvement of an existing space while implementing Dignity Health’s Care of the Future model. Care of the Future is Dignity Health’s new platform for deploying optimal ambulatory care. At its core, this model fosters a culture of continuous improvement. This will be one of the first clinics to deliver this new platform of care to its local patients. 

 

The design implemented a space plan where medical professionals worked within a central corridor, and exam rooms were placed around the perimeter with a jack and jill style entry. This way, patients could enter in on one side of the exam room while medical professionals are able to access the rooms from the central corridor. Ideally, this model would streamline the office visit process for efficiency. Finishes were also selected within the Dignity design standards. However, given the location and demographics of the space, a coastal aesthetic was emphasized. This project was a success due to Dignity’s strong vision to implement a new style of care and Williams + Paddon’s comprehensive programming.
