Boys & Girls Club of Placer County’s New Clubhouse in Roseville

Just In Time For Summer Camp 2022

Robin and I went to the open house at the new Roseville campus of the Boys & Girls Club of Placer County last week—we love seeing a project come to life!

the project

The new Union Pacific Railroad Clubhouse is located in a residential neighborhood in Roseville, and the shell is a house designed by John Mourier Homes. Our friends at Reeve-Knight were the contractors on the job (they’re both great).

They asked if we would design the interior for this new center. The Boys & Girls Club provides a safe, structured, and positive environment for young people; it was an easy decision, and we were happy to say “yes!”

DESIGN PROCESS

We rolled up our sleeves and started designing at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020; construction continued through early 2022. As we were planning, we knew everything had to be super resilient and easy to clean; kids are demanding clients, after all.

We used a Shaw carpet with matching LVT, making the transition from room to room look seamless. The client wanted a fun and modern cafe vibe for the Teen Area, which is separated from the main space, so we selected Stickwood for the wall.

We curated several color palettes and were delighted that they selected the most colorful one. The large splashes of blue throughout act as neutrals and balance the space nicely. Geometry queen Robin Bugbee designed some clever and beautiful floor patterns, which turned out great. We also used some fun P-Lams that are right at home in this space.

Mission Accomplished

We have a happy and well deserving client. We’re excited to see this space in our community come to life now that the kids are making it their own.
